Handmade Gift- Superhero Peg People

(Superman, Red Power Ranger, Batman, Spiderman)
These little guys aren't making it to Christmas... they have already been seen and snatched up by my little 3 year old boy who yelped with delight at the mere sight of them! I made these last night and think they would make a great addition to any preschool aged boy's stocking. (Warning: not intended for children under 3, may present a choking hazard.) If I make more, I might work on my painting skills, but otherwise, I think they are pretty stinkin' cute! I actually made them in response to my son's admiration of my daughter's peg dolls I made for her a few days ago (sorry, no photo, we left those at Grandma's). He loved playing with the daddy and little boy peg doll, and while I am not opposed to boys playing with dolls in any way, I thought these guys might make him happy! You can't tell, but the photo below is an action shot...LOL!

  1. They are great, i know another little 3 year old who would love a set!

You asked about his bed, the bed part is about 85cm off the ground, at the moment we have a futon underneath so he sleeps in the den and the top is just used to play on. We figured when he is older he can sleep up top and use the bottom just for a den. we put the Ikea shelves at the end and they make great steps and inside they are book shelves.
Our friend had the same bed but turned the other way and with the Ikea canopy over the top, her son loves it. Ebi-kun loves having the 'curtain' I made on but we have to take it off at night in the summer because it is just too hot under there. Now it is perfect, all snuggly and warm :o)
One thing, the bar at the top of the bed, the way we have it, isn't very high, I was worried about small children falling off so huby constructed a safety rail - just in case...

  4. How funny to see these on your site today! I just picked some pegs up the other day and I'll be making some dolls for my daughter for Christmas.

Great job with the super heros! I wish my son was into super heros - I'm not sure how to transform a peg into a dinosaur.

  6. Oh Wow these are awesome! Where did you find the pegs? I think my kids would love something like that this year. I'm trying to do as many handmade things as possible. May I ask what kind of paint you used? Thanks for sharing such a great idea!

Oh, and I totally see the action shot. :~)
